Washington Square Arch

EXIF:     Aperture Priority, Pattern Metering, EV -1, 1/40 sec, F/5.6, ISO-1600, 30 mm (48 mm equivalent), cropped to square
Camera/Lens:     Canon EOS 350D Digital Rebel XT, Canon EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6
Location:     Washington Square Park, New York City
Notes:     Walking around NYC this weekend with my "best" lens (the kit lens) which only goes to f/3.5 at the wide end, I initially assumed that I couldn't get any decent shots without a tripod. But then these guys showed me that they were just boosting their ISO and under exposing as much as necessary, and it reminded me that I don't always have to shoot noise free stock-clean photography all the time. So I shot at ISO 1600 and under exposed and when I stopped worrying about noise, I had a lot of fun.

Yeah, I think that this photo is slightly too large for the page unless you're on a huge monitor and the page in general could use an updated template. I'm actually working on that, but for now... yeah, you have to scroll. Sorry!

As for this photo, actually I have to admit that I hadn't thought to do this, but just noticed that I liked how this looked before I focused the camera. I'll have to remember to do this on purpose in the future.
