Alley

EXIF:     Aperture Priority, Pattern Metering, EV 0, 1/60 sec, F/5.6, ISO-200, 55 mm (88 mm equivalent)
Camera/Lens:     Canon EOS 350D Digital Rebel XT, Canon EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6
Location:     22nd and Spruce, Philadelphia, PA
Notes:     Was it in Baltimore that I grew enamored with alleys? I lived on Lovegrove, which since it had a name probably wasn't a true alley, but it had it's share of trash, weeds, rats, and the occasional mugging.

This alley here is just off of 22nd Street and Spruce in Philadelphia, and like many of Center City's alleys, it's got quite a bit of charm. Just across the street from where I was standing is 'Gusto Pizzeria and this is not exactly a sketchy area. But I liked this alley for having just enough barbed wire and urban decay to make for an interesting photo, without making me feel unsafe.

I love the colors of this. It's pretty saturated and high contrast for you, eh? (I'm kind of a sucker for both of those things, so I think it's excellent.)

Ianqui, how funny, I was thinking when I posted this that you would notice that this has much higher contrast that things I normally post!

I almost talked myself into lower contrast, but every time I tried it, the picture just seemed a little flat and boring.

I'm glad you like it!
