First Game: US-Czech RepublicJune 29, 2006

USA fan

EXIF:     Aperture Priority, Pattern Metering, EV 0, 1/50 sec, F/5.6, ISO-400, 200 mm (320 mm equivalent), cropped
Camera/Lens:     Canon EOS 350D Digital Rebel XT, Sigma 55-200mm f/4-5.6
Location:     Gelsenkirchen, Germany
Notes:     From news reports, you'd think that no one in America cared about the World Cup. But the crowds in Germany showed otherwise. Like all the fans from other countries, most of the US fans wore face paint, wigs, hats, shirts, jerseys, and full flags. And there were a lot of them. (I can't find a consistent estimate, but I'm seeing anywhere from 10,000 to 20,000.) This was nothing like four years ago in Korea.

Before the game we were cautiously optimistic... but we ended up losing this first one 0-3.
