rainbow over napa valley

Notes:     I was just waiting for a rainbow to appear, knowing that the weather was perfect for one, and when it did, I went running over to the best vantage point I could find and started snapping away.

I used to be such a rainbow freak when I was little. I even had a rainbow quilt on my bed that my grandmother made for me. In fact, just today I was looking at some old family photos that my father recently scanned, and came across a photo of it. (That's me on the bed, playing school with my sister and our stuffed animals and toys.) It later took me forever to convince my family that I'd eventually grown beyond rainbows and the color purple.

Location:     Napa Valley, California
Camera:     Canon EOS 300D Digital Rebel, Sigma 18-50mm f/3.5-5.6
EXIF:     1/100 sec, F/14.0, 18 mm (29 mm equivalent), ISO-100, EV -2/3

The rainbow looks so pretty; looks like you got some great pictures with the rebel! Your childhood photo is so adorable; I love how all the dolls are lined up - isn't it funny how girls play at real life and boys play at super heros?

Wow, excellent photo. Great light and composition. It'd be interesting to see this with maybe a little more of the grape vines.

Congrats on the new camera!

Oh it's not a new camera. It's a loaner from Chiaroscuro. She has another dSLR, so she let me borrow her old Rebel for the trip.

I have to say, it was so much fun to use!! I can't wait to one day shoot with one on a regular basis.

As for your comment on the composition, I think you're exactly right. I don't know why I featured so much of the sky. In some of other photos from this vineyard, the clouds are really dramatic all the way to the top of the frame, but in this one they sort of flatten out. Wish I could go back to reshoot this one!

I love how you and your sister sat all the dolls at their "desks" in that old photo. So cute!
