Look, no polarizer!December 22, 2005

Location:     Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, MD
Camera:     Canon PowerShot Pro1
EXIF:     1/125 sec, F/8.0, 38 mm, ISO-50
Notes:     Another, less expensive thing I've been thinking would be nice to have, is a polarizing filter. But on a clear winter day like this, who needs filters!

The color of this sky is so intense! I saw the similar image in your b&w blog, and... well with this sky color seem to me the obvious choice. However, why don't you try to convert, just for fun, the color image into b&w using the channel mixer, with a lot of red in, and blue out, to see how dark the sky would come out?

Massimo, I tried that actually, and it comes out practically black!

That's an intense sky! I actually thought it was a night shot at first, as the sky often comes out with that kind of hue/saturation on long exposures.

Very nice.
