Fence and TreeMarch 04, 2005

Location:     Central Park, New York, NY
Camera:     Canon PowerShot S30
EXIF:
Notes:     The Gates by Christo and Jeanne-Claude, Central Park, NYC

Yep, this is my last Gates photo. It's not really supposed to be OF the Gates, but while they were up in Central Park, it was sort of hard not to have them in your photos. Anyway, I kind of like the points of orange in the background here and think this photo might be slightly boring without them.

I finally have an update on my camera that's been out for repairs. It arrived today, back from repairs. I was so excited for the first few minutes when I shot a couple of photos and found no artificial lines on the recorded images!

But then I tried to check the settings. The date screen came up, but I couldn't set it or turn it off or even turn the camera off. Apparently they updated the firmware or something, and I'm guessing that's why it won't turn on, or when I have it on, why it won't turn off. I actually checked their website, and had a good chuckle over the advice they listed for the problem of the camera not turning on.

Advice #1. Turn the camera on.

Advice #2 through 5: Make sure the rechargeable battery is fully charged and in the slot and the battery terminals are not dirty.

If the above doesn't work, call us.

Gee thanks. I can't believe they even have that on their website. :)

Well, just in case I am one of the stupid people, I'm recharging my battery. I can see that it's not fully drained, so I really don't think that's the problem. But I guess I should fully charge it so when I talk to Canon we won't get stuck on stupid things like that. I should probably also try to reinstall the firmware myself. I think I have to install the Canon software though, which I really don't feel like doing right now. Oh well. It could be worth it.

All this snow, brrr

your story reminds me of a problem I had recently with a PC, the keyboard would not respond. I had the following error :
'Keyboard not detected, press F1' :o)

Great shot! I beg to differ about the gates, I think would like it more without the orange, it's a tiny distraction.

Really like this shot. Again, with so many pictures of the gates floating around I think it's unique interpretations like this that stick out. If I had a critique it's that I long to see that whole tree in the frame, sort of held prisoner behind the bars. Obviously it was too tall so the point is moot and I should probably just say great job. So, great job.

Congrats.

Great shot.

I like this one a lot.

My camera is still in repair :((

Great idea nicely executed. I just wonder what it would look like with the tree framed between two wires, not centered on one of them. Unlike Kyle I like how you didn't include the top of the tree. It sort of strengthens the feel of captivity. Well done!
(And good luck with your camera! I hope everything will be sorted out soon...)

This is like a mosaic, or a puzzle! Good luck with your camera, sometimes technology simply doesn't want to cooperate...

An amazing way to break up the frame. I find myself studying each rectangle. Interesting shot.
