Did you PS this? The colouring is lovely! Posted by: Leigh at February 28, 2005 08:51 PM
Leigh, No PS coloring here. I was just fortunate enough to see the Gates on a day with a blue sky overhead that reflected in the water. The orange on the "white" parts on the duck are probably from the sun shining off of all the orange gates nearby. Posted by: luminouslens at February 28, 2005 09:08 PM
ah, as soon as i saw the orange in the water i knew where you were without having to read anything! what did you think of the installation? Posted by: michael at February 28, 2005 09:22 PM
I JUST looked at yours actually. :) And yes, I recognized where you were too. I was surprised to like it as much as I did. When I stepped out of the subway up at 110th St, I was almost disappointed because everything looked, from the street, just as I'd expected it to. I think I was hoping to be blown away at first sight. And instead it looked like everyone's pictures of it. But once I stepped into the park, I enjoyed it a whole lot more. I never really got tired of the Gates as I walked through them (down to 86th Street). There's something about that orange and the hugeness of the Gates that makes you just want to keep looking. Did you enjoy them? I have a few more pictures, but I'm going to spread them out over the week since I know I won't have a lot of time for photos this week. That's an original take on the Gates. Kind of subliminal (even the duck has some orange in it)... Posted by: Massimo Marengo at March 1, 2005 01:51 AM
Very nice. Like that you dont get a real view at the gates, just the reflection in the water... Posted by: flygirl at March 1, 2005 04:57 AM
