Prospect Park

EXIF:     no idea - it was so long ago!
Camera/Lens:     I have an old film Olympus Infinity Mini lying around (no, not this futuristic looking digital µ-mini), so I assume that's what I used.
Location:     Vale of Cashmere, Prospect Park, Brooklyn, NY
Notes:     As I'm getting into film photography, I thought I would have a very old roll of film developed that I found lying around. I had no idea when it was from or what was on it, but I thought it might be fun to find out. This time I didn't have the photos scanned to CD though; instead I had them processed and printed and then I scanned this at home myself on our Canon Pixma MP500. I really haven't done enough scans yet to assess the quality, and I've hardly played around with any settings (are there any settings to play around with? the manual says nothing about them), but the quality is definitely better than the low res scans I got from my local camera shop. So this might be a good low budget solution for now, at least for showing images on the web.

Anyway, I would date the pictures of the roll of film from about 1999-2000, and this one I believe was taken in Prospect Park in Brooklyn. I used to live in Park Slope in Brooklyn and this park was right nearby. The designers of the park, Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux, also designed Central Park, and although I prefer Prospect Park, there are definitely similar philosophies behind them. They both have amazing wide open spaces that feel vast and natural, with some rolling hills to keep things interesting. And they both have these intriguing secluded spots where you follow a tiny footpath into the woods, feeling as though you've discovered a path that has hardly been traveled (though certainly that can't be actually true) and you find secluded and lovely spots like this one.

Just thinking back makes me miss this park. It makes me tempted to shoot other rolls of film and then leave them undeveloped like little time capusules so that I can rediscover other parts of my life in the future like this.
