ManateeJanuary 25, 2007

Manatee

EXIF:     Aperture Priority, Pattern Metering, EV 0, 1/60 sec, F/5.6, ISO-400, 55 mm (88 mm equivalent)
Camera/Lens:     Canon EOS 350D Digital Rebel XT, Canon EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6
Location:     Blue Spring State Park, Orange City, FL
Notes:     Another manatee, taken before I handed the camera off to my husband. The water in Blue Spring was so incredibly clear (it's also shallow), so with the help of a polarizer filter, I could pretty much see straight through. Lovely.

This is great! Not only because it's such an interesting picture, but because you got to see a manatee! We were promised sightings, but never got them. Oh well.

I'm amazed that the water is so clear anywhere in FL that you could get a shot like this.

I never got to see the manatee photos while you were here - I love this one!

And for ianqui: this is my FAVORITE place here to swim. The water is 72 degrees all year long and crystal clear. (although this is isn't the only place where the water is this clear - there are several springs like this - if you are ever headed to FL, let me know and I'll direct you to the right places :) )
