Sunset

EXIF:     Aperture Priority, Pattern Metering, EV 0, 1/250 sec, F/8.0, ISO-100, 45 mm (72 mm equivalent)
Camera/Lens:     Canon EOS 350D Digital Rebel XT, Canon EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6
Location:     Lake Apopka, Florida
Notes:     The reason we were out taking pictures that day was because I was playing around with my husband's father's Mamiya C330. I didn't use it for the sunset though because I had black and white film in the camera and I really wasn't confident with it yet. I didn't want to let the beautiful sunset pass by when I had a camera that I do know how to use. But now I'm curious to know what I would have gotten if I'd used the medium format. Oh well.

What a beautiful picture! Maybe if it was in color it would be trite, just like anyone else's picture of a sunset. In yours, one has to notice the drama of the cloud formations, and the huge distance involved from the tree branch close to you to the distant horizon where there is that smallest lit cloud. It's sort of an upside down composition; usually the foreground is in the lower area of the picture and the most distant points are higher up in the scene.
