Rylee

EXIF:     Aperture Priority, Pattern Metering, EV +2/3, 1/50 sec, F/5.0, ISO-200, 22 mm (35 mm equivalent)
Camera/Lens:     Canon EOS 350D Digital Rebel XT, Canon EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6
Location:     n/a
Notes:     Here is another one of my sister-in-law's dog, Rylee (see also this photo on my color photoblog). I cannot remember what kind of dog she is, but she's full-grown even though she looks a little like a puppy.

I wonder if this photo looks dark to some of you? I had previously not adjusted my monitor from the default, reasoning that that way it would correspond to everyone else's uncalibrated monitors. But I recently decided that was stupid, and using a variety of tests (e.g., PhotoFriday's calibration tool, I adjusted the gamma setting until I could see all the shades of grey and wow, what a difference!! I always thought I could see well enough, but this really brought out a lot of detail in both the shadows and the highlights. It's almost like I switched to film. :) Anyway, I suspect that if you can't see the differences among the darker shades of grey that this photo will look particularly dark to you.
