dramatic clouds over napa valley

Notes:     We pulled over to the side of the road when the rain broke because the vineyards were dripping with glistening droplets of water and the clouds over the mountains were breathtaking. (See it also in color.)

You may recognize these clouds from Chiaroscuro's blog which she captured with a longer zoom, steadier hands, and a fantastic ability to capture subtle differences in tones.

Location:     Napa Valley, California
Camera:     Canon EOS 300D Digital Rebel, Canon EF 50mm f/1.4
EXIF:     1/640 sec, F/5.6, 50 mm (80 mm equivalent), ISO-100, EV 0

The clouds are amazing! I bet they're even more noticeable in black and white than color; i imagine the lush vineyard colors would distract the eyes from the clouds. I also really like the san francisco shot, so linear.

oh ha, I just read your comment below and saw the color picture; I do like the black and white more.

Actually, I included the color shot (see the text under the photo), so you can check it out!

Oops, I didn't see your comment when I typed mine. Obviously. :)

I'm glad you like the B&W one. I think I like the clouds better in the color shot, but I like the vineyard better and the overall effect better in black and white.

nice one.

At least that's one good thing about all the rainy weather we're getting here in SF, it makes for some dramatic shots.

The color shot isnt really doing much for me, but this one is pretty dramatic and what an incredible view.
