MortalitySeptember 11, 2005

Location:     Fitzwilliam College, Cambridge, UK
Camera:     Canon PowerShot Pro1
EXIF:     1/3 sec, F/8.0, 7 mm, ISO-50
Notes:     I couldn't get the focus quite right on this, probably because I didn't actually get in the tub to take this photo, I simply leaned over the high edge. Also, it required a 1/3 sec exposure, held at a funny angle by my shaking hands. And even then, F/8.0 wasn't quite narrow enough to get the faucets sharply in focus. And then, in later processing, I couldn't get the contrast right either.

But this is close to the effect I was going for...

I love this shot. It's both funny and sad at the same time. Your composition is the most important reason this is a good picture.

I'm actually surprised you like this one. I thought you might find it a little bizarre and morbid. :)

I absolutely love the story that this photograph tells. Surreal and bizarre, very cool.

This really is an excellent image. The dead moth in the foreground really makes the shot for me. I just spent some time going through your archives and I really like your B&W work. Your conversions are perfect.

I really like this photograph. It tells a story photographically, and the composition is perfect. It conveys a clear vision, without anything in the technique to confuse the viewer, or to clutter the meaning. I think this is definitely one of my favorite photographs.

It is funny. The bathtub looks like a giant monster with protruding faucet-eyes, looking down to the latest prey...

I think this is a brilliant photo, despite the things you mentioned. Nice work.
