Infrared DaisyAugust 16, 2005

Location:     Sherwood Gardens, Baltimore, MD
Camera:     Canon PowerShot Pro1
EXIF:     1/640 sec, F/3.5, 23 mm, Super Macro
Notes:     This little daisy-like flower had cotton-candy pink petals and tiny yellow flowers in a ring around the center. Using the channel mixer, I converted this to look as though it was taken using infrared.

(The truth is that the little yellow flowers weren't perfectly in focus and it's noticeable when this photo is in color. In black and white, I don't mind the softness of the tiny center flowers.)

I really like this familiar yet other-worldly, stark yet starry/lacey/flowery feel. And I like that we're looking at the flower dead on.

I think you did the right thing. Looks kind of alien, but it is interesting.
