Down the StreetJune 23, 2005

Location:     N. Calvert Street @ 29th Street, Charles Village Baltimore, MD
Camera:     Canon PowerShot Pro1
EXIF:     1/1600 sec, F/4.5, 10 mm, ISO-50
Notes:     I recently decided to try to take more photos of Baltimore. It was a gorgeous day, so I tried to make use of the giant cumulus cloud in the sky above these buildings. But I fear that the cloud, and maybe the buildings are the only points of interest in the photo. I don't find the sidewalk itself to be particularly appealing. Any thoughts on this photo? Could I have saved it by shooting at a low angle? Maybe getting more of the tree in the foreground (e.g., by getting more of a close up of the leaves)?

Here's a color version of the photo, as Bre asked for. It's a little less dramatic than the b & w version, but I think I might like it better. What do you think?

The b&w dramatic clouds are wonderful. What kind of conversion method you used?

I also photograph with a Canon Pro1

Keep up to good work,

I used the Channel Mixer to convert to black and white, so that I can mix the RGB channels (rather than the default converstion using just the red channel).

It's always nice to find another Pro1 user!

I enjoy the B&W much more. The color version seems almost uninteresting and something I might normally just pass over.
