~the high key affect works for me, also, the deep dark contrast of the lone fisherman is a fine detail to compliment all the stark white~ Posted by: btezra at April 14, 2005 10:44 AM
That would be perfect for a book cover, although it'd be a shame to spoil it with text. Posted by: jwer at April 14, 2005 11:27 AM
What an image! This is how b/w should be! Also like the reflection. Posted by: Zishaan at April 14, 2005 02:58 PM
I like the lone fisherman who appears to be facing the "great unknown" which seems to be enhanced by the higher contrast. Nicely composed. Posted by: McKendall at April 15, 2005 06:42 AM
That is a gorgeous shot, well done. Posted by: Anand Sankaran at April 15, 2005 11:03 AM
This is great! I like the idea of a book cover too. It looks like a story. great work! Posted by: ViSuaLLyMiNDeD at April 15, 2005 11:46 AM
Beautiful approach to a common topic in "beach photography". Did much of it is postprocessing?. I mean, did you overexposed when you took the shot or did you alter levels afterwards in the computer?. Anyway it doesn't matter at all, the result is beautiful. It has the right amount of information to make it dreamy but interesting. I think that it would also work really well as a backdrop for my windows desktop, or even better, to my T5 PDA :D. May be I'll try if you don't mind :D. Beautiful!. Rafa: Actually, this isn't the result of post-processing - I did almost no levels or curves adjustments. It's actually just the result of how I did the converstion from color to b&w. This scene had so much green and blue in it that when I converted mainly along those channels, those areas simply became white. The black or grey areas you're seeing are those that were primarily represented by the red channel. As for sending it as a backdrop for your windwos or PDA desktop, I'm happy to send it to you. Just let me know the dimensions you want! Posted by: luminouslens at April 16, 2005 12:18 PM
Excellent convertion! well done :) Posted by: Leigh at April 16, 2005 08:47 PM
