Wow! I saw the color shot first and loved the nice bright orange but this one really takes it to another level. Absolutely love the tones and contrast. Posted by: Chris at March 2, 2005 01:32 PM
I love both versions. The b&w strengthens the framing whereas the colors are beautiful. Posted by: Andreas at March 2, 2005 03:50 PM
These B&W shots are great. Call me unartistic, but I'm not all too crazy about the whole Gates thing, for a variety of reasons. Maybe the orange color, maybe the extremely short run (only 2 weeks, for all that cost and effort), etc. And many people have photographed them, but most images are mediocre, photographically. Yours are very nice. Posted by: Matt at March 3, 2005 01:07 PM
Matt, I can completely understand where you're coming from. I wasn't sure if I would like them, and when I stepped off the subway and saw them from the street, I still wasn't so sure. It wasn't until I was in the park that I felt like I really liked them. I guess it was the experience of being surrounded by them, walking under them, seeing them line the paths and help define the landscape. That was cool. But... they are a bit weird. Orange curtains flapping all over the park. :) Posted by: luminouslens at March 4, 2005 12:07 AM
~it works for me in b&w, it gives a much different impression than all the color shots of the Gates~ Posted by: btezra at March 10, 2005 03:03 PM
Nice choice of B&W here...well framed. Regards from Vienna, -T Posted by: zoomvienna at March 12, 2005 05:30 PM
Like it and prefer it it in B&W - different to all the gates shots I've seen so far. Posted by: deceptive at March 22, 2005 11:32 AM
