Are the bubbles on the surface of the water? They've got great depth to them, looks like they're popping out of the photo.

No, the bubbles are at the bottom of a pot, with about two inches of water above them. (So, technically, this is before boiling. Once it started boiling, there was too much steam for me to get a good shot.)

this is very cool. the black and white really enhances the mood on this one as well as the subtle lighting. very 1950' sci-fi looking.
