Wow, stellar lines and forms!!! Probably my favorite of yours so far in terms of composition. As for technical critique, it looks to me like much of the sand portions of this photo are overexposed/blown out. I really like the highlights on the trees, though.

Hm, yeah, I don't really know how to fix one area of the photo without affecting another! So I focused on getting the light in the trees to look good, but then I think you're right that the sand is a bit overexposed (I assume you're talking about the unraked columns of sand?). I wonder if there are ways to do this in photoshop, to protect one area of a photo while changing another?

Of course, another problem is that the sun was SO bright that day and the photo really was overexposed (as you and I had talked about previously), so perhaps the contrast in the sand really wasn't salvageable once I was working with the jpg...

I have so much to learn about correct exposure, and the recent lack of bright sun in Baltimore did not prepare me to deal with the glistening sun in Japan!

Hi,tamara

I like this picture. This shot is more oriental compliance than Japanese do. The viewpoint is very nice.

Have you ever been Japan?

Thanks for your comment, jj.

Yes, actually, I just took these pictures in Japan last week. I was there for one week in Osaka and Kyoto. It was incredibly beautiful, and I know my pictures do not do it justice!

I'm not sure what you mean by "more oriental compliance than
Japanese do"? Are you talking about the viewpoint?

Great, I think autumn is the best season to visit there. The colors seen may be more beautiful than any others.

I am sorry to be poor English:)
What I mean was your pictures are more refined composition and texture than Japanese people are going to take.

Oh, that's interesting. I never would have realized that!
